INTERAC is stopped in its tracks December 28, 2011
Intercommunity Action Inc attempted to secure zoning approval for a 4 story multi-million dollar massive building on Ridge Avenue. Problem is INTERAC needed a zoning variance because of the height and location of the building. The massive structure blocks the light and air of the residential neighbor, our client, who objected. The irony - the building is for senior housing; the neighbor is in his 80's and Interac never bothered to include him in the process. The Zoning Board, of course, went with the political pressure and said "yes", even though there was no legal basis for their decision. Judge Panepinto agreed with the neighbor and has remanded the case. Our brave client stood up alone to battle both INTERAC and the civic. Why "brave"? Last time he disagreed with the position of that civic association, he and his now deceased wife were relentlessly harassed by the members of that civic association - phonecalls, at his door, on the street. Here's to the little guy! |
